Westfield, NJ — Nov 2025 — Closing out its milestone 50th anniversary year—during which the Foundation invested more than $1.7 million across the community—The Westfield Foundation awarded over $165,000 in Q4 grants to 12 nonprofit organizations, bringing 2025 Quarterly Grant funding to more than $600,000. This year’s support reached 45 organizations, including 17 new partners, underscoring the Foundation’s mission to foster positive change and elevate Westfield and the surrounding region.
Guided by our core focus areas—Education, the Arts, Community Development, and Health & Social Services—these grants address urgent needs, expand access and equity, and strengthen the partnerships that keep our community vibrant, resilient, and future-focused.
Q4 Grant Recipients
CancerCare – Financial Assistance for Local Patients in Treatment
CancerCare provides essential financial support to Westfield and Union County residents undergoing cancer treatment, helping cover transportation, childcare, homecare, medication, and basic household needs. Qualified patients also receive counseling, support groups, resource navigation, and referrals from CancerCare’s oncology social workers. This grant strengthens a vital safety net for families facing both medical and financial hardship.
Caring Contact – Crisis Line Capacity & Infrastructure Upgrades
To meet rising 988 Crisis Lifeline call volume and new oversight requirements, Caring Contact has expanded staff, upgraded secure storage, and reconfigured office space to accommodate more Listeners. These improvements increase call capacity, enhance supervision, and strengthen the organization’s broader 988 Crisis Care & Connection program. The grant ensures more New Jersey residents receive timely, compassionate support during moments of crisis.
Center for Hope Hospice & Palliative Care – Community-Based Hospice Support Center for Hope provides comprehensive hospice and palliative care to approximately 1,100 families each year across Westfield and Union County. Care is delivered at home, in long-term care facilities, with 24/7 response, respite stays, and extensive bereavement services. The organization remains a deeply rooted, trusted resource for Westfield families navigating end-of-life care.
Fanwood Rescue Squad – Apparatus Bay Floor Replacement
The Squad’s aging concrete bay floor has deteriorated, creating structural, safety, and sanitation concerns for volunteers and emergency vehicles. Funding to this new grantee supports installation of a durable, commercial-grade epoxy floor designed for heavy emergency vehicle traffic. The upgrade will improve safety, protect equipment, and ensure a clean, reliable response environment.
Greater Middlesex & Morris Habitat for Humanity – Aging in Place & Home Repair Habitat provides essential repairs and accessibility upgrades that help low-income seniors and vulnerable homeowners remain safe and stable in their homes. Building on last year’s impact in Westfield, this grant funds materials and labor for critical projects such as ramps, roof repairs, and electrical and plumbing updates. These repairs preserve affordable housing and protect residents’ health, independence, and dignity.
Greater Somerset County YMCA – Inclusive Afterschool & Summer Programs The Plainfield YMCA offers inclusive afterschool and summer programs that support academic success, social-emotional growth, and meaningful peer connections. With specialized support for neurodiverse youth, scholarships, and full-day summer programming—including free swim lessons—the Y ensures all children have access to safe, enriching opportunities to learn and thrive.
Imperial Brass – Student Outreach & Masterclass Program
Imperial Brass, a new grantee, will host a 2026 outreach program featuring masterclasses led by renowned brass musicians, culminating in a public concert with students, guest artists, and the full band. Funding supports guest travel, housing, facility use, and program materials. This initiative cultivates emerging musicians and brings a vibrant arts experience to the Westfield community.
More Than Bootstraps – Near-Peer College Access & Success Program More Than Bootstraps pairs first-generation college students with local high school peers through a proven near-peer mentorship model supported by stipends, family engagement, and wellness programming. College Student Leaders receive intensive training and ongoing mentoring while guiding younger students through college preparation. The program boasts 100% high school graduation, college retention, and college graduation rates.
Platinum Minds – Leadership, Literacy & College Pathways for Boys New to The Westfield Foundation, Platinum Minds empowers academically motivated young men from Union County through leadership development, literacy support, scholarships, mentoring, and summer enrichment. With a 100% graduation rate and B+ average among current scholars, the program builds confidence, academic success, and civic engagement while also mentoring younger elementary-aged “Rising Stars.”
Students 2 Science – STEM Education & Career Pathway Programs Students 2 Science delivers hands-on STEM education for students in grades 3–12 through its Virtual Labs, immersive ISAAC in-lab experiences, and Career Advancement Program. Students explore real-world scientific challenges, STEM industries, and career pathways with guidance from industry volunteers. The grant expands access to high-quality STEM learning that prepares youth for New Jersey’s innovation-driven economy.
Trinitas Health Foundation – Infant Overhead Warmer
Trinitas Maternal and Child Health Center urgently needs a new infant overhead warmer to replace unsafe aging equipment. The unit is essential for stabilizing newborns—especially premature and low-birth-weight babies—in both delivery and neonatal care. Serving more than 1,200 newborns each year, including a predominantly Medicaid population, the Center relies on philanthropy to fund critical capital equipment.
Youth & Family Counseling Service (YFCS) – Office Space Upgrades YFCS provides a safe, calming environment for children, teens, and families seeking counseling. This grant supports necessary interior and exterior upgrades that ensure continued safety, accessibility, and a therapeutic atmosphere for clients.
