Foundation honored at the Centennial celebration of the YWCA Union County

The Westfield Foundation was honored recently at the YWCA Union County’s 100^th Anniversary Celebration at The Westwood in Garwood, NJ. 

The YWCA Union County is a safe haven for people experiencing domestic abuse.  They offer comprehensive services for survivors and their children including counseling, residential programs, a skills training and empowerment program (STEP), court advocacy, and a crisis hotline: (908) 355-4357 (HELP).  They also partner with Union County and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office to operate the Union County Family Justice Center.

In 2019, a fire severely damaged the YWCA’s headquarters building in Elizabeth, NJ, jeopardizing the operations.  A capital campaign was launched and The Westfield Foundation responded with a lead grant of $250,000.00 towards the rebuilding efforts.   

The new building is designed to be a state-of-the-art facility that will enable the YWCA to not only continue its work but to grow and expand its programming.

The Westfield Foundation is a community foundation dedicated to improving the lives of citizens in and around Westfield, NJ.  It was founded in 1975 as an endowment to fund programs in the arts, health, aging, historic preservation, social services, and civic projects.  The Westfield Foundation serves as a liaison between the many donors who have given generously over the years and the organizations that benefit.
